Hard to believe that I'm headed back to Haiti again, seemingly so soon. I spent close to a month in Thailand in December with good friends, doing some earth block building at The Elephant Park, an elephant sanctuary...what a wonderful gift that was. I wrote about that- not sure if you can find the link to that blog from here, but in any case- got some great shots of the elephants, and memories to last a lifetime.
And now, I head back to Haiti, this time with a group of participants from the Endeavour Centre, a new natural building school in Ontario, run by Chris Magwood & Jen Feigin. A new venture for them, and this trip is a new venture for all of us. I'm landing a week before the participants, just to make sure that things are in order for us when they get here. We'll start by spending a few days volunteering at the Grassroots United (now called Haiti Communitere), and then we'll go to Deslandes in the Artibonite Valley, to work on the second earth block school building in that community.

Wintry wonderland in Low, Quebec- a beautiful place for a snowshoe or ski! |
Now that I'm at the airport in Montreal, my body has already arrived in Haiti...oh, the oppressive heat, the never ending screetching of the roosters, the smells of garbage burning...and the intense friendly people, the awesome conversation, Prestige beer, and the beauty of the Artibonite Valley. The colours, the life, the love. Looking forward to this return trip and adventure, and will post when I can.
